Samphire Park News
9th December 2009
We were lucky enough for Michelle Coburn to have time on 9th December to come and take photos of the horses. Kass took the
opportunity to get photographed by Michelle riding Mikey! This was the first time he had been ridden after having a spell preceding
breaking in. Apart from being a little naughty to start with, he settled down and didn't put a foot wrong.

Terry is currently constructing a new lunge arena as the old one left a lot to be desired. There will be updated pictures of the
construction too
!

Kass has been going down to Troy's to ride Mikey and we have some photos to show you. He is going really well and is
great to ride. Kass says he feels like a 'horse' under you with big bold movements. He is coming home next weekend on
10th October 2009 and will then have a rest for a couple of months before he is back under saddle. Kass is thrilled with
what Troy and Nicki have done with him and looks forward to the next Show season to 'show' him off!!

Samphire Park Castan Micah (Mikey/Mike) Section A RPSBS stallion, will be standing at stud after he has had 12 months
under saddle.

We have some great pics of Mikey at Troy’s after two weeks. He is going
fantastic and we are all thrilled with him, even Troy!  Troy says he is an
honest little pony (not too little!) and doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body.

He spent the first week just learning where Troy’s personal space was, long
reigning, mouthing, saddle etc and then last week, Troy got on his back and
he didn’t put a foot wrong.

We are amazed at how accepting Mikey has been. He tends to be a bit fiery
and we thought that he might be a bit feisty with Troy with all this new stuff
he was asked to do but everyone has been pleasantly surprised!  Kass will
go over again in a couple of weeks and under Troy’s guidance, will also ride
him.

Nikki, Troy’s partner is going to pull his mane, shampoo him and plait him up
as if he is going to a show, just to get him used to it. And she will take
photos!!

We are so pleased with how Troy has done everything with him and couldn’t
have chosen a better person for the job.

Mikey is a wonderful little horse and is
going to be just lovely under saddle!
13th August 2009

Last night Mikey (Samphire Park Castan Micah) went to Troy Coombes to be broken in
and educated for riding under saddle, showing and breeding manners.

Troy came to pick him up at 7.30pm. Remember, Mikey has never been near a horse float
and has not left the property
since he was born so Troy was going to teach him to float as well as take him away!

Would you believe, he just walked up to the float, had a sniff then walked on!!!
What a brave boy! He stood there, pawed a little while Troy closed everything up then
stood like a lamb.

We had a text message from Troy at 10.40pm to say Mikey travelled very well, hardly
moved and was now in his round yard, making friends with his neighbours in the next
stables!  We are so proud of him, what a legend, both Mikey and Troy!! But I forgot to
video it or take photos!!! What a Wally!

Troy Coombes is an excellent Horse Handler, Breaker, Educator and he can be

He has such an excellent reputation and is highly sort after so expect to wait a while for a
